Kenyo Alexandre Baly was born on January 3, 1996 on the island of Sint-Maarten (Netherlands Antilles) to parents, Louis Alexandre Baly and Brenda Felicia Lake and raised in Saint-Martin (French West Indies). Due to Kenyo’s multicultural upbringing, he is fluent in both French and English.
Kenyo began singing at church at the age of 6, and has taken part in numerous competitions and showcases here and abroad, and he has learned to hone his singing and song writing talent in this competitive environment. At the age of 15, Kenyo moved to New York to attend Uniondale High School, where he joined the award winning Show Choir ”Rhythm of the Knight”. In March 2014 the Choir took part in the Fame Show Choir Competition at Lincoln Center in Manhattan, where they won the show. The Choir, with Kenyo as its lead male singer, moved onto Nationals in Chicago where Kenyo was awarded Best Male Soloist.
In the summer of 2014, Kenyo graduated high school and made the decision to forego college in order to concentrate solely on his singing and song writing career. At the age of nineteen, he released his first official single entitled “Got Played” which was co-written by him on January 27th 2015. The Original version of the song was first shared with the public last year and received outstanding reviews. As a result, Got Played was chosen to be his first single. Since its release, it has received major buzz and is steadily climbing the independent charts.
Kenyo melodic voice has often been compared to John Legend and Bob Marley and his soulful rendition of classic ballads and Caribbean standards has made him a crowd favorite. He has gained significant exposure as a featured soloist and has been interviewed and performed on major television stations including ABC, NBC, FOX5, Newsday, Channel 12, and CNN. Kenyo accolades are many and he continues to receive performance requests worldwide.
